Jim Simon, a former Assistant Director of Central Intelligence for Administration and a CIA Intelligence Officer, is a Senior Advisor for Threat Deterrence, LLC, focusing on software and technology

In 1999, Mr. Simon was appointed as first Assistant Director of Central Intelligence for Administration by President Clinton. He held this position from January 2000 through January 2003. In 2004, after more than 30 years of government service, he founded Microsoft’s Institute for Advanced Technology in Governments, and for five years led its efforts to connect Microsoft’s world-leading advanced R&D activities with the global public sector.  His role was to engage with senior government officials around the world concerning Microsoft’s products, most notably in cyber security, advanced analytics, and research and development. He retired in 2012 as Microsoft’s Chief Strategist for its worldwide public sector.

In addition to serving on several corporate boards and various governmental advisory groups in the US and elsewhere, Mr. Simon teaches cyber security in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama. Mr. Simon has a B.A. degree from The University of Alabama and a M.A. from the University of Southern California
